A Review of Teaching and Learning Vocabulary: Bringing Research into Practice. (2005).

Elfrieda H. Herbert & Michael L. Kamil (Eds.).  Mahweh, New Jersey: Lawrence Erlbaum Associates. PDF

Reviewed by YouJin Kim, Northern Arizona University
In Reading in a Foreign Language, Volume 18, No. 1, April 2006

The core chapters of the Hiebert & Kamil text are presentations from the 2003 Pacific Resources for Education and Leadership Forum. This review allows the reader to preview the book itself and situate the research in classroom applications. Ms. Kim was interested in L1 and L2 language learners; she felt the chapters in the book would be resources for teachers who design instruction for them.
