Looking Back, Looking Forward: A Conversation about Teaching Reading in the 21st Century

Turn of the century prognosticating about schooling seems to fall into two
broad categories: wildly optimistic or cautiously pessimistic.  Perhaps this
is because the evaluation of historical progress and the current state of
affairs in schooling also seem to fall into similar categories.
